An inferno has gutted three houses at Sidhuwa Bazar in Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality of Dhankuta district on Friday evening.

Local Roshan KC said security personnel from Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force backed by locals are attempting to douse the fire that started from a butcher’s shop.

Another local Navneet Khadka said a fire engine has reached the incident site from Basantpur in Terhathum to contain the fire.

Superintendent of Police Laxmi Raj Adhikari, who is also chief at Dhankuta District Police Office, said additional police personnel have been deployed from the district headquarters to extinguish the fire, adding that a fire engine of Dhankuta Municipality has also been mobilised.

No human casualty has been reported so far.
